Translate Allegro files to PADS

  • Translating Allegro files into PADS typically requires a script file from Allegro. On the Servicespage you will find the contact information of the Danish company PCB Design, Henrik Gottlieb performs translation work from Allegro to PADS cheaply.

Import graphic objects into PADS

  •  2D objects are compatible between Logic and Layout. Layout has versatile 2D object editing tools and wider import options.  So, for example, the logo is often easiest to import as follows: Let's open it as a bitmap in some graphics program (for example, CorelDraw) and run Trace. It creates a border between colors and can be exported to a DXF file. It's a good idea to choose an old format (V10 or even older) so there won't be any bspline definitions. DXF can be imported into Layout, combined, transformed, closed into a polygon (join, close), scaled, changed to a copper area, disk blocking line, blocking area, etc., and stored in a 2D library from which it can be imported into Logic.

Logic

  • Script for converting bitmap to 2d line object, e.g. logos.
  • The ConnectSlavepinsscript facilitates a situation where one logical position in a circuit diagram is matched by several physical dysents on the circuit board. A root pin number is entered in one of the component's attributes, along with a list of pins to connect to it that are not shown in the circuit diagram. There can be more than one group. When the script is run, the pins are rooted with a signal pin definition, and the information is normally transferred to Layout. You just have to remember to run the script before you sync Layout

designer

  • DxDBTweaker is an add-in that makes it easier to maintain a Databook database (MsAccess).

Layout

Save the script to the appropriate folder and add PADS to the script list.

  • Variant Reports The script expands part list printing so that it can produce not only section lists and midpoints, but also PDF printouts from logic circuit diagram for each variant, and semiautomatically from Layout Step files (uncharted deleted). See introductory video. Instructions for use.
  • Assembly Steps script is a quick way to extract a few components to present in documents separately. It uses attributes, so it offers the ability to control documentation already at the library stage.  Instructions for use
  • You can use the Text checker script to quickly check the text in the PCB file without overconnecting layers and colors. It sorts them in layers, texts can be selected by clicking the list, editing in Layout using RMB-Properties. Instructions for use
  •  CAM print settings (gerber and ncdrill).
  •  IPC-D-365A script. Compared to the standard PADS export function, the script checks the offsets in the Gerber and Excello print specifications (constant always uses a 0.0 offset). If all documents have the same offset, it also applies the same to the IPC draw list, if different, asking the user what to use. Of course, the logical thing is to use the same offset for everyone, so it's easy to fix document definitions at this point.
  • Stacked via utility allows you to easily create cross-layer pass-through combinations. When the layout is complete, you can use the program to print layer-specific drilling files for pass-throughs. The program saves the definition of up to dozens of pass-throughs and the combination of numerous NC files. Latest version 1.38. (11.3.2020).
  • Script,SMD detection based on first-position drilling.
  • PADS Layout Script Wizard quick reference. For example, section list printing with barn coordinates in Excel format. Wizard generates a new VB script that can be run directly in the future.
  • Bi-directional Excel Link-script provides circuit board decal coordinates in Excel and restores it back to Layout, e.g. test pointpads with new coordinates. Tip: When you return coordinates from Excel to Layout, leave only the changed lines in your Excel coordinate account. This speeds up script driving.
