Poweraccess

PowerAccess is specifically designed for PAD’s users who want to streamline their library management and reporting. It’s not just software; it’s a partner that assists you at every stage.

Whether it’s component searching, schematic preview, or parts list management, PowerAccess provides the solutions. Additionally, it allows you to easily integrate different projects, see where components have been used, and even calculate component annual volume.

With PowerAccess, you can also streamline your library management process, as it offers bidirectional part-type conversion from the library to Excel and back. This means that you can easily identify and rectify any deficiencies.

PowerAccess is a database-based tool that extends PADSin library management and reporting capabilities. It has been developed in collaboration with users to meet growing integration needs.

The full installation package of PowerAccess 9.7.35 is now available for download on PADS VX.

If you already have version 9.7.x installed, you can simply update it by replacing the pDB.exe file with the new one from the pDB.zip file provided.

Install the 32-bit MsAccess 2010 runtime package from the following address:

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/confirmation.aspx?id=13255. (The installation may require running it from the command line as: “$yourPath$AccessDatabaseEngine.exe /passive”).

This method ensures compatibility with 64-bit office applications.

With free registration, you get the following features:

  • Component search based on any attribute, previewing in Logic, and opening both the schematic and PCB symbol data sheets .
  • Reordering components in Logic
  • Excel-based component generator (one sheet defines both symbol and part type data)
  • Layout: Align and Distribute function (aligns selected components evenly based on the outermost ones and arranges them by reference designator number)

A full package can be obtained either as a perpetual license or as a temporary one. In addition to the previous ones, it includes, for example:

  • Searching for enclosures based on geometric properties (see video).
  • Loading and saving parts lists to the database. In this case, you can view the projects where each component has been used in the component search.
  • You can open the project’s schematic (and/or PCB layout file) from the search results, and the tool lists the components and selects the desired ones.
indication of usage counts. Once the BOMs are loaded, you can input the annual production quantity for each project into the database. The tool calculates the annual volume for each component and displays it in the component search. It’s useful information in component selection.
  • A report of components used in projects that are not found in the library.
  • Two-way parttype conversion from the library to Excel and back. In Excel, each component with its attributes is represented on a single row. Any deficiencies can be easily identified and corrected.

Note. It seems that Windows 10 updates may affect the operation of some Microsoft database libraries, resulting in pDB giving an error message when creating a new database. In such cases, pDB needs to be reinstalled. If you are using the latest version from the zip package, also install the 2010 runtime package as mentioned earlier.
